Overview
Explore Tsavo West on a three-day safari combining the ease of travelling by SGR with two nights in the heart of the park at Severin Safari Camp.
Tsavo West is known for its dramatic and constantly changing landscape, where open savannah gives way to volcanic terrain, wooded hills and natural springs. Game drives offer the chance to see elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and other wildlife against some of the park’s most striking scenery.
One of its best-known attractions is Mzima Springs, a series of remarkably clear natural springs surrounded by lush vegetation, where hippos, crocodiles, fish and other wildlife can often be seen. The Shetani Lava Flow reveals a completely different side of the park, an extensive field of hardened black lava created by volcanic activity hundreds of years ago.
You’ll spend two nights at Severin Safari Camp in a Luxury Tent on Full Board. Early mornings bring beautiful sunrises over the Tsavo wilderness, while the evenings are equally memorable as the landscape changes colour with the setting sun. Your stay also includes a sundowner at Poacher’s Lookout, where you can watch the sunset over the vast surroundings with a drink in hand.
Travelling by SGR makes this an easy alternative to the longer drive from Nairobi, without taking away from the safari itself. You arrive directly into the Tsavo area ready to explore.

Tour Schedule
Day 1 — Nairobi to Tsavo West
Early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or residence and private transfer to Nairobi SGR Terminus.
Board the morning Inter-County train to Mtito Andei. Depart Nairobi at 8:00 a.m. and arrive at Mtito Andei at 10:50 a.m.
On arrival at Mtito Andei, you will be met by the Severin team and transferred into Tsavo West National Park.
Enjoy your first 2.5-hour game drive before settling into Severin Safari Camp.
Later, head to Poacher’s Lookout for a sundowner overlooking the Tsavo landscape before returning to camp for dinner.

Day 2 — Tsavo West
After breakfast, head out for your second 2.5-hour game drive through Tsavo West National Park.
Spend the rest of the day enjoying Severin Safari Camp and the surrounding wilderness. Additional experiences can be arranged for guests who would like to do more during their stay.

Overnight: Severin Safari Camp
Day 3 — Tsavo West to Nairobi
After breakfast, check out and transfer to Mtito Andei SGR Station.
Board the train at Mtito Andei at 11:18 a.m. and arrive at Nairobi Terminus at 2:10 p.m.
On arrival in Nairobi, your private transfer will take you from Nairobi SGR Terminus back to your hotel or residence.
